Done-for-you vs do-it-yourself trading bots on Hyperliquid
There are two ways to automate trading on Hyperliquid. You can build and run your own bot, or connect a done-for-you service that runs one strategy for you. Neither is better for everyone. This guide compares them honestly, including where CryptoBoost is the wrong choice.
The two models
Do-it-yourself (DIY) tools let you build a bot. Some are no-code platforms with ready-made bot types, such as grid bots and DCA (dollar-cost averaging) bots. Others are open-source frameworks you run on your own computer or server and configure in code.
Done-for-you services run a strategy for you. You don't pick indicators or settings. CryptoBoost is this kind of service: one strategy, trading BTC perpetuals (BTC-PERP) on Hyperliquid, from your own account.
Side-by-side comparison
| Do-it-yourself | Done-for-you | |
|---|---|---|
| Who designs the strategy | You | The provider |
| Skill needed | Strategy design, testing, sometimes code | Understanding the risk and the fee |
| Time | Ongoing: build, test, monitor, adjust | Low: choose an allocation, review monthly |
| Markets | Usually many | Whatever the provider supports |
| Typical cost | Subscription, a per-trade builder fee, or your own servers | Often a share of profit |
| Custody on Hyperliquid | Your account, via an API wallet | Your account, via an API wallet |
| When results disappoint | Your strategy needs fixing | You decide whether to keep trusting the provider |
When a DIY bot is the better fit
- You already have a strategy, or you enjoy designing and testing one.
- You want to trade several markets, or spot as well as perpetuals.
- You want to change settings yourself, often.
- You have time to watch the bot and fix problems quickly.
A DIY tool does not give you an edge on its own. A grid or DCA bot repeats a set of rules; whether those rules make money depends on the market and on your settings.
When a done-for-you bot is the better fit
- You don't want to design or maintain a strategy.
- You are comfortable with one market and one approach.
- You prefer a fee tied to results over a fixed subscription.
- You will still check the results yourself, rather than trusting a dashboard.
A done-for-you bot asks you to trust the provider's strategy. That trust should be earned with a track record you can verify, not screenshots. Our guide to evaluating a Hyperliquid trading bot lists what to check.
How the costs compare
The two models charge in different ways, and the cheaper one depends on how much you trade and how the strategy performs:
- Subscription: a fixed monthly price, paid whether the bot makes money or not.
- Builder fee: a small fee on every order, which you approve on Hyperliquid. You pay it on losing trades as well as winning ones, and it grows with trading volume.
- Share of profit: nothing in a losing month, a share in a winning one. CryptoBoost charges 10% of the bot's monthly trading profit, calculated before Hyperliquid fees and funding. Each month is billed on its own, so a loss is not carried forward.
Hyperliquid's own trading fees and funding apply in every model. See Hyperliquid trading fees explained.
What stays the same either way
On Hyperliquid, a well-built bot of either kind trades through an API wallet that can place orders but cannot withdraw or transfer your funds. Your money stays in your account, and you can revoke the bot's access at any time.
Automation does not remove risk. Perpetual futures use leverage, and any bot, DIY or done-for-you, can lose money.
Common questions
Is a done-for-you trading bot safer than a DIY bot?
Not in itself. On Hyperliquid both kinds can trade through an API wallet that cannot withdraw your funds, so custody is the same. The risk comes from the strategy and the leverage, not from who designed it.
Do I need to code to use a trading bot on Hyperliquid?
Not necessarily. Open-source frameworks usually need configuration or code, no-code platforms need strategy settings, and a done-for-you service such as CryptoBoost needs neither.
Can I use CryptoBoost and my own bot at the same time?
Use separate Hyperliquid accounts if you do. Two bots trading BTC in the same account would act on the same position and interfere with each other.
Which markets does CryptoBoost trade?
Bitcoin perpetual futures (BTC-PERP) on Hyperliquid. If you want to automate other markets, a DIY tool is the better fit today.
